Gail K. McCarthy is a shareholder in the law firm of Hochstatter, McCarthy, Rivas
& Runde, S.C. She received her J.D from the University of Michigan
in Ann Arbor, Michigan and her B.A. from the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign. Gail was admitted to practice law in the State of
Michigan in 1977 and in the State of Wisconsin in 1980. She has practiced
immigration law throughout her legal career and has limited her practice to
immigration since 1988. Gail has been listed in the Best Lawyers in
America since 1995. For the first eleven years of her career, Gail
was a legal services attorney for migrant farm workers and other
disadvantaged persons. She is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Migrant Legal Action Program
in Washington, D.C. and served as the Board Chair for three years. She is a
long-time member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and past
chair of the Wisconsin Chapter. For several years Gail served as the
Wisconsin chair of AILA's national student essay contest. She is a
member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bar Association and
has made many presentations at attorney seminars. Gail has always had
an active pro bono practice at Hochstatter, McCarthy, Rivas & Runde,
S.C.
and enjoys working with community organizations in immigration matters.
