Michael C. Runde is
a shareholder in the law firm of Hochstatter, McCarthy, Rivas & Runde, S.C. He
received his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame and his bachelor’s
degree from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. Mike is a member of the American
Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Milwaukee Bar Association, and
the State Bar of Wisconsin. He was Chair of the Wisconsin Chapter of AILA
from 2003 to 2005. Mike has also served as the Wisconsin AILA Chapter’s Vice
Chair and Treasurer. Mike’s business and employment immigration practice
includes assistance to employers on compliance with an employer’s obligation
to verify work authorization of employees and assistance to religious
organizations seeking temporary and permanent religious worker visas. He is
a frequent lecturer on business and professional immigration topics for
employers and he speaks on religious worker visa issues at the national
level. Mike also has practiced extensively in the area of business law and
has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy. He has
served as Chair of the Bankruptcy, Insolvency and Creditors Rights Section
of the State Bar of Wisconsin; Chair of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association
Committee on Bankruptcy Law and Procedure; and Chair of the Bankruptcy
Section of the Milwaukee Bar Association. Mike has practiced immigration law
throughout his legal career and has limited his practice to immigration
since 2000. During his two year term as Chair of the Wisconsin Chapter of
AILA he served on the Board of Governors of the national association. Mike
has continued to serve on national AILA Committees. Mike is listed in Best
Lawyers in America in immigration law. He has also been voted by his peers
for inclusion in Wisconsin Super Lawyers (2006) and in the International
Who’s Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers.
